Claiming compensation for human rights violations
Human rights is quite a new area of legal expertise and is still evolving, following the Human Rights Act of 1998 becoming law in England and Wales in 2000.
We do not usually handle cases against public bodies, such as the building of a new runway, a patient’s right to life or other similar matters that are often reported on in the press.
However, human rights issues do occasionally arise from other claims that we pursue against public bodies such as the Ministry of Defence or the NHS.
If we believe your case incorporates a human rights issue, we will let you know and tell you whether it adds anything to the claim in terms of negligence. We will also offer advice on funding options, as it is not always straightforward to fund this type of claim.
