Paul brings a unique blend of military experience and technical expertise to his niche area of legal practice.

Born into a military family, Paul was educated at the Duke of York’s Royal Military School and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. Following commissioning in the Army, he read for a degree in History and Politics before returning to military life. After attending the Junior Division of the Army Staff College, he completed the Ammunition Technical Officers Course which was followed by an operational tour as a Bomb Disposal Operator in Northern Ireland.

On leaving the military, he completed his legal training. He went on to form a general litigation practice before specialising in personal injury in 1988.

For Paul’s recent settlements please view our settlement page. Paul obtain £180,000 for a member of the Parachute Regiment struck by an armoured vehicle in Afghanistan, £2.2 million for a member of the Parachute Regiment who sustained injuries in a mine blast and over £600,000 for a member of the Royal Marines who sustained injury as a passenger in a Land Rover incident in Afghanistan.

Paul is a founder member of the Royal British Legion Solicitors Panel, a former Co-ordinator of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers Military Specialist Interest Group and a member of the Institute of Explosives Engineers.

With such specialist knowledge and insight, he has developed a niche practice dealing exclusively in claims on behalf of servicemen and their dependants against the Ministry of Defence, in particular for ammunition/weapon related cases, training accidents and equipment related matters. He has successfully achieved compensation for servicemen involved in accidents in Great Britain, Northern Ireland, Cyprus, Canada, Kenya, France, Germany, Poland, Norway, the USA, Afghanistan, Iraq and the Oman.

Paul’s notable cases include:

  • High profile aviation accidents including the Chinook crash, the Nimrod crash, the USAF F15 crash as well as a number of other helicopter accidents.
  • High-profile Combat Immunity cases
  • A pioneering series of claims arising out of the recent Gulf War, which were settled without formal Court proceedings via a negotiated settlement scheme. This meant claimants were saved the stress of appearing in court and legal costs for both sides were kept to a minimum.
  • Kajaki Minefield incident

Other important cases include:

  • Death of Corporal Mark Wright GC – Kajaki Minefield
  • Tpr T. Awarded £4.7 million for a brain injury
  • Mrs H & Mrs J. Awarded $4.01 million following USAF F15 crash
  • Captain F. Awarded £1.45 million following BATUS friendly fire incident
  • C/Sgt T. Awarded £1.37 million after an amputation

  • Marine S. Awarded £875,000 for a brain injury sustained during operations in Northern Ireland

Paul was a wonderful choice for us not only because of his military background but also because he has an excellent approach and a great rapport with clients.”
