The Harrington family's proud military history has stood Simon in good stead for becoming one of the country’s leading lawyers specialising in Ministry of Defence claims.
His career has been illustrious from the start, and having completed his professional exams in Cambridge, he was awarded the National Law Society Prize for Outstanding Performance in recognition of his academic achievements.
In August 2005 Simon joined us from Lorimer Longhurst and Lees, a fellow Royal British Legion’s Panel Member. He has worked exclusively for claimants in actions against the MoD throughout his professional career. He is a member of APIL's Military Special Interest Groups and was one of the first solicitors in the country to settle a claim arising out of the Gulf War II conflict.
Simon's particular expertise is in cases for injuries sustained due to exposure to cold weather. Having handled 150 cold injury cases, Simon is considered to be the country's leading lawyer in this field.
Through his cold injury work Simon has gained considerable experience in assisting Commonwealth service personnel in claims for compensation and, specifically, recovering losses which stem from their loss of British residency due to medical discharge.
Simon is a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers and acts as Legal Advisor for the Cold Injury Advice Group.
Simon has a good working knowledge of the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme and was one of the handful of lawyers invited to the White Hall meeting to give their views on the scheme before its inception. He regularly assists people with AFCS claims, free of charge.
Simon has been shortlisted for the Young Achiever of the Year at the Proclaim Eclipse Awards.
