Catastrophic Injury Claims.

Whilst we have clients with all levels of injuries we do appreciate that cases involving serious spinal and head injury have different features and require relevant experience and a team approach.  There is often a period of lengthy hospitalisation when access to treatments is vital and then real practical issues when the client is dispatched home or into rehabilitation.  We understand the importance of rehabilitation, access to treatments and suitable accommodation.  These are often funded by early interim payments but difficulties commonly occur if the defendants are contesting the case on liability.

Even if liability is admitted at an early stage defendants can raise contributory negligence in these larger cases knowing that any percentage point that is deducted is worth a lot of money and will buy a lot of care or equipment for the claimant.  We fight for the best result on liability.

We also have access to a team of medical experts across the different interlinking disciplines that are required.  We understand the importance of managing the case so that all issues are explored and evidence is in the right order.

We use experienced Counsel and in the larger cases this may involve Leading and Junior Counsel working together.

We have set up care regimes and worked with Case Managers.  We are familiar with the demands of the Working Time Regulations and their impact on these cases.  We are skilled in maximising damages through complex Schedules drawn up by our in-house Forensic Accountant.  We are familiar with the need to look the division of compensation between lump sum and periodical annual payments.

We understand that each client’s needs and wishes differ but that establishing quality of life is a common theme.

These cases take time and require active strategic direction.  The Manchester Directors and our Consultant in Newmarket have significant experience in catastrophic injury cases.  We are corporate members of the Spinal Injuries Association.  We are engaged in these cases at the present time and hope to always engage in this demanding and rewarding work.
